This class breaks down Pincha Mayūrāsana and its progression into Karaṇḍavāsana through stepwise entrances and foundations. We begin with three ways to enter Pincha: Swing one leg up confidently, joining the second without flaring ribs or losing alignment. Two-part jump: crouch-and-spring into a squat balance, then shoot legs to vertical. Pike entry: both legs rise together, hop-assisted or as a full press if strength allows. Training emphasizes keeping the head–torso–pelvis in one vertical line (Samasthiti upside down), bracing the ribs and pelvis, and pressing firmly through the forearms. Drills include headstand and forearm-balance-with-head-down variations to engrain the neutral axis before attempting full balance. Exits are studied as well: pushing off the forearms, timing the release of the legs, and aiming to land in Chaturanga with control rather than freefall. Finally, we introduce Lotus prep in inversions—first supine with pelvis supported, then in headstand, and eventually in forearm balance—treating Lotus not as an afterthought but as its own crouch-and-spring transition. The key is patience, sequencing, and repeating small steps until confidence builds in the full movement chain. Model - Delara Tiv (Ashtanga Vevey)
